The Golden State Warriors are deep into their long road trip, and their next stop is at one of the most fascinating teams in the Eastern Conference: the Milwaukee Bucks. But when the Warriors do get a look at Milwaukee’s newest addition, Kyle Kuzma, it won’t be quite the blockbuster everyone envisioned as two-time league MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is out and all-universe point guards Steph Curry and Damian Lillard are questionable.
This is the injury report:
Golden State Warriors
Out — Jonathan Kuminga (right ankle sprain)
The Warriors broke some not-so-surprising news today — Kuminga wouldn’t return before this weekend’s All-Star break. I’d wager that there’s still a good bet to have him in the first game of the break, when the Warriors finish off a seven-game road trip with a jaunt northeast to face the Sacramento Kings.
— Steph Curry (left quad soreness)
The Warriors are finishing up the first half of the season with three road games in four days, so best believe they’re going to be cautious with Curry. “Hopefully he goes and plays.”
Milwaukee Bucks
Out — Giannis Antetokounmpo (left calf strain)
Antetokounmpo is going to be out for a stretch, which is a tough blow for a Bucks team that is trying to avoid ending up in the play-in tournament. He’ll also miss the All-Star Game, which sucks. Trae Young was announced today as Antetokounmpo’s replacement.
— Damian Lillard (right hamstring soreness)
And this game became a lot less interesting with Antetokounmpo missing, because Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler might be the two players I enjoy watching defend on Giannis the most. But it’ll get even less interesting if Curry and Lillard can’t go.
Doubtful — Pat Connaughton (left calf strain)
Connaughton, who is somehow already playing his 10th season in the NBA, has been having a nice but unspectacular season so far, but missed the last two games.
— Brook Lopez (right shoulder contusion)
Assuming Lopez is able to play, we’ll get quite a big-men-shooting-threes showdown between he and Quinten Post!
